The Della IV

Della is a caring mother of three children and the sole caretaker of one of her grandchildren. Although she has been divorced for several years, she remains close to her ex-husband. Recently, he started showing signs of early-onset dementia. Her two adult children who live in New York served as her ex-husband’s main caregivers, but Della saw her children struggle to balance their personal lives and their overwhelming caregiver duties.

Della has since taken on the responsibility of caring for her ex-husband, despite their divorce. Her support system is helpful, but it can still be challenging. To alleviate some of the stress, she turned to JASA's caregiver program for assistance. Through the program, Della was able to receive individual respite home care, which has been a great relief for her and her children. She also takes part in the caregiver program's workshops to further support her in her caregiving role.
