Pamela retired from being a corrections officer and now works the polls on occasion. She cares for her elderly mother and helps out raising her eleven grandchildren. In her free time, Pamela enjoys making jewelry, doing crafts, thrift shopping, and going to outdoor concerts. She attends a variety of classes like exercise, crochet, and nutrition across the Einstein and Bartow centers.
“It’s all enriching. They do exhibitions, where people bring in their artwork or our crochet items. Everyone displays what they made. It makes you feel good.”
Pamela appreciates the liveliness and social atmosphere of her center. She finds the community and activities to be very engaging. After classes, she regularly goes downstairs for lunch with her ladies. She also loves the exhibitions where people bring in their artwork and crochet creations for display. Not only does it make her feel good, she finds connection through these activities, especially with her ladies.
“I like that at my center, people are lively, that there’s activities and socialization. That you can make friends and do things outside of JASA.”
